Maitland Conservation has received funding for restoration projects on agricultural land through the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program-Marginal Lands initiative.
Eligible projects include:
- watercourse buffers
- wetland creation
- windbreaks
- tree planting on marginal agricultural land (class 4-7) berms and grassed waterways.
To be eligible, farmers must have a Farm Business Registration Number (FBRN), and either have or be willing to obtain a 4th or 5th edition Environmental Farm Plan. Projects must also take place on agricultural lands (i.e. not in an existing natural area).
Funding includes the costs of trees and shrubs, contractors, and project coordination.
Farmers interested in this opportunity are encouraged to schedule a site visit with us today!
