Maitland Conservation is seeking consulting services to undertake the Lucknow Floodplain Mapping Update Project (the Project). The Project will be initiated in 2025 and must be completed by June 2026. The purpose of this Project is to update and create flood hazard mapping for the community and surrounding area of Lucknow, Ontario.
Current flood hazard mapping is outdated (portions dating back to 1978) and fails to account for decades of land-use and climate change. Lucknow and surrounding area have a history of being vulnerable to major flood events. The historic conduit that runs beneath the town lacks engineered overland relief without causing additional flooding, contributing to the vulnerability to flooding for the community.
The successful Consultant Team must possess sufficient resources to meet the project timeline and skills in the following areas:
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic modelling
- Flood Hazard mapping
- Geographic Information Systems and cartography;
- Project management; and
- Community consultation and facilitation.
In addition to technical qualifications, the Consultant Team must exhibit such skills as diplomacy, tact, strong communication ability (both written and oral), and a demonstrated history of working successfully as a team. The Consultant Team must have a solid understanding of municipal, conservation authority, and landowner interests, and applicable planning policies.
The deadline for RFP applications is 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday May 6, 2025.
