The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Warning for the Boyle Drain region of the Middle Maitland River affecting the municipalities of North Perth and Huron East.
Flooding is imminent or already occurring.
Water levels in the Boyle Drain will continue to rise today, with the potential to reach levels similar to those experienced in the December 2008 event. Levels are expected to continue a slow but steady rise for at least the next 12 hours. Ongoing snowmelt today, combined with possible rainfall tomorrow, could keep flows elevated well into the week, making this a potentially long-duration event. Rural roads in the area may become flooded and hazardous.
Municipal officials are encouraged to monitor low-lying and flood prone roads and prepare for potential closures. Residents should exercise caution near all watercourses. Driving conditions may be hazardous. Do not drive through floodwater as culverts and gravel roads will be at risk of washouts.
This message is in effect until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 10, 2026.
