The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) has identified the Logan Mill and surrounding land at Brussels Conservation Area as surplus to the Authority’s needs.
Over the past several years, the MVCA has been working with the Maitland Mills Association and the Brussels Community Development Trust which has expressed interest in the surplus lands. Together, the two parties plan to maintain the heritage aspect of the mill and surrounding land as a community space once ownership has been transferred.
Pursuant to Section 21(4) of the Conservation Authorities Act, the MVCA is undertaking public consultation regarding this disposition. The subject land and infrastructure are located within a regulated flood hazard. The proposed date of the disposition is by December 31st, 2023. The MVCA is currently completing the conditions for the consent (severance) of the parcel. The land would be transferred to the Brussels Community Development Trust once all conditions have been met.
Consultation on this disposition will take place over a 45-day period with comments due by 4:00 p.m. on April 14, 2023.
