Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area is a unique combination of woodlands, meadows and hedgerows. Both the Maitland River and Belgrave Creek flow through the property and the site is an important wildlife corridor and nesting area for birds. There is a scenic 3 km trail loop through the Conservation Area; trail maps are available at the kiosk near the parking lot. Special events are held at the site including an Owl Prowl in the summer and the Fall Colour Tour in October. Fundraising efforts are currently underway to build a picnic shelter to replace the Wawanosh Nature Centre that was the focal point of the property for over 30 years.
