The Flood Warning for the Maitland River Watershed has been downgraded to a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety. This statement now covers the entire Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds. After remaining stubbornly high yesterday, levels in the Middle Maitland River from the Boyle Drian through Ethel and Brussels have begun to recede. Levels in the Lower Maitland River from Wingham to the mouth at Goderich are also gradually receding.
Although levels have begun to drop, it is important to note that flows remain very fast and cold throughout the two watersheds. All watercourses remain dangerous, please stay away.
Maitland Conservation staff will contiue to monitor conditions closely over the weekend.
This Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety remains in effect until Tuesday Feb. 27 at 10:00 a.m. unless conditions warrant an update.
